NEXT "MEETING": Sunday, December 9, 2:00 PM
at Christine & Craig's in Green Brook

Dear GOSV:

In the ten or more years of sending out meeting notifications, I canít think of another time when one was cancelled. Thatís quite a track record. Though Hurricane Sandy has wreaked havoc on our community, sheís only a minor contributor for the last minute change. Unfortunately, the scheduled flower designer didnít realize Wednesday was the day before Thanksgiving and like most of us who also have to cook, clean or travel, requested a postponement because of a conflict. Instead of trying to quickly put together a less than satisfactory program on a night where attendance would likely be very light, a decision was made to skip and regroup for January.

The good news is that the GOSV Christmas Party, again to be held at Christineís and Craigís home in Green Brook, is only a short few weeks off (Sunday December 9, starting at 2:00 PM). Last year the food and company was terrific, and the party served as a perfect kick-off for the extended holiday season. Itíll also provide everyone a chance to spout off about Sandy, reflect and give thanks for our many blessings. Expect another reminder and details on what to bring in the next week or so.

Early winter always seems to provide challenges on topics, so this year we are going to repeat (except not as long) what was successful in the past, a January program once again depicting members garden or travel photos. Think about sifting through albums or files now before the start of the busy holiday season. Send photographs to Nancy Rood (nancy.rood@dematic.com) or Marty Oostveen (moostveen@archreco.com), the earlier the better please. Iíll let Nancy and Marty set a deadline in a later e-mail.

With this cancellation, perhaps members can take a few minutes to think about what GOSV means to their lives, then come back in January rejuvenated and ready to contribute in 2013. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Mitch
